Chess Tournament
A chess tournament will be held in Viðey house on Saturday, 9 July at 13:00.

This event is organized by the Reykjavík Chess Club and hosted by Elding and Reykjavík City Museum.
The tournament is open to all interested parties, and participation is free, but you have to pay for the ferry. Participants will play nine rounds with a time limit of 3 + 2 (3 minutes per person and 2 seconds each move). The event will occur in a cosy environment on the upper floor of Viðey's house, where you can buy delicious refreshments during the competition.
The maximum number of competitors is 50.
Prizes at the tournament are:
First place: ISK 15,000
Second place: ISK 10,000
Third place: ISK 5,000

The ferry sails from Skarfabakki according to schedule, and tickets can be booked ahead of time at www.elding.is. We recommend lunch at Viðey house before the event.
The ferry back and forth fee is ISK 1,950 for adults and ISK 975 for children 7 - 17 years accompanied by an adult. We remind you that the holders of the Reykjavík Culture Card get a 10% discount on the ferry ticket and the holders of the City Card sail for free.

Accessibility: The ferry service to Viðey Island leaves from Skarfabakki harbour and is accessed via a gangway which is variably steep depending on the tide. Access for people with reduced mobility is therefore greatly restricted. Guide dogs are welcome at the museum.
Bus service 16 stops at Klettagarður / Skarfagarðar on weekdays. During weekends, visitors can use bus services 12 getting off at LHÍ Laugarnesi or 14 getting off at Laugarásvegur and walk the rest of the way (15 to 20 minutes) to Skarfabakki.
