Exhibition proposals
Before a proposal for an exhibition is submitted to the Reykjavík City Museum, we would ask those who intend to make a proposal to familiarise themselves with the objectives and guiding principles of the Museum.
Please consult the Reykjavík City Museum website, which provides information about each of the Museum’s sites around the City. It is essential that a prospective applicant should assess his/her own work in light of the Museum’s policy, and the nature of exhibitions it has hosted in the past, before a proposal is submitted.
The Reykjavík City Museum Exhibitions Committee considers all applications. The Committee meets every four months. Applications for exhibitions will be answered after the Committee has met. The Reykjavík City Museum receives a large number of such applications each year.
If a proposal for an exhibition is approved, the Museum will contact the applicant to discuss the next steps. If an application is not approved, we thank the applicant, who will be informed of the decision as soon as possible.
Unfortunately we are not able to provide any guidance or comments, nor to produce a report regarding applications which are rejected. Please note that exhibitions are often scheduled up to 24 months in advance.
Please submit proposals for exhibitions by email to citymuseum@reykjavik.is.
Thank you for your interest in the work of the Reykjavík City Museum.
